Useful Information

Official language

The official language at the EAAP Annual Meeting is English. No translation will be provided.

Passport and visa

Entry formalities for Germany vary according to the country of origin. Nationals of European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA), as well as third-country nationals holding a residence permit of a Schengen State, don’t need a visa to enter Germany. All non-EU citizens are asked to contact their local embassies for specific requirements.

Official invitation and certification

An official invitation letter will be sent upon request to assist in meeting administrative requirements. However, this invitation implies no obligations, financial or otherwise, by the EAAP Organizing Committee.

A certificate of attendance will be available for all delegates.

Liability and insurance

The Organising Committee cannot accept liability for personal accidents or loss or damage to private property of participants and companions. Participants are advised to acquire their own personal travel and health insurance for their trip. We kindly recommend arranging personal travel and health insurance prior to your trip.

Health and emergency

In case of emergency, landline or mobile phone users can call 112 (Ambulance) or 110 (Police) to be connected to the relevant department.

Currency and money exchange

The monetary unit of Germany is Euro. Currency can be exchanged at the airport, at bank offices. All major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa and American Express) are accepted by most hotels, restaurants and shops.

Time Zone

The summer time Zone in Germany is CET – UTC +2 hour.

Climate

The weather in Hamburg in September is usually pleasant and sunny, but an umbrella and a warm pullover might come in handy. Electrical supply

Electricity is supplied at 220-230 volt A/C, 50 Hz. Outlets are of the two-round-pin type.

How to get to the venue

The CCH – Congress Center Hamburg is conveniently located in the city centre. The Dammtor mainline train station and several other stations and stops of the public transportation system are within a distance of 100 to 500 meters.

The most convenient airports are Hamburg (HAM), Hannover (HAJ) and Frankfurt (FRA). From the airports you can use a variety of ICE trains to the Hamburg-Dammtor station. You can easily and efficiently get from Hamburg Airport (HAM) to Hamburg-Dammtor station by taking the S-Bahn line S1.
